Greetings, fellow Disney fans! I hope everyone is enjoying their preview of Seven Dwarf’s Mine Train. In fact, in case you missed it, there is a big list of all the changes today OVER HERE.

That aside, I wanted to talk about MCMagic’s continuing growth and the future.  You see, when we started all of this almost 3 years ago, we had one mission in mind: Make it the best family server in Minecraft.  We have accomplished that goal in spades and continue to daily.  When we started, we could barely fit 20 people on the server without it crashing. Now, on average, we have 300+ Guests on during weekends. That’s a huge number, compared to 3 years ago. However, when you compare us to the larger servers in the Minecraft World…we’re still small.
Believe me, it’s not like we couldn’t do it. We know the numbers are there and we would easily have 1000 or even 2000 Guests on at one time, but our servers can not handle it, right now. We simply don’t have the technological facilities to handle more than 300, at present.

That’s where YOU come in.

You see, we currently pay $380 a month to keep our servers running. Most of the time our donations do not cover the costs, so I pay out of my own pocket, as I have from the beginning, to keep things going. Plus, we have a few extra costs like purchasing Character Accounts, our Android App, plugin development, and more.  All told, our servers run about $400+ a month (on average).  I know that sounds like a lot, but it really isn’t considering what we have and what we offer. We get the best bang for our buck. We’re running 5 servers, in total. Bungee, Main, Creative, Build…and that “super-secret” one we’ve been hard at work preparing. (actually, we have 6 but that one is free. If only I could get 6 servers for free. lol)

We’re busting at the seams!

I did the numbers, and in order for us to compete (and have the best experience for you, our Guests) we’d have to pay around $1000 a month, minimum, to keep up with our massive rate of current growth. Our Goal, however, is $2000 a month. This would include the best DDOS protection, cached servers and website, 100% uptime, and no less than 6 dedicated machines to host each server. That and we could pay our plugin developers. Think about that. We could give them money to make the best quest, challenge, hotel, shop, & food plugins to help you to enjoy your experience even more!

Now, I know those numbers seem almost unattainable, but in order for MCMagic to compete and remain the leader, that is the bottom dollar amount. Other top servers are paying tens of thousands a month. $2000 a month would mean we could handle 2000 players at one time. That’s $1 per Guest, if you divided it into one day. Now divide that over a month!  It would cost, per player, pennies a day and they would have no lag, no skipping rides, no audio glitches, and build to their heart’s content on Creative!

So that’s my pitch. I’m looking for some of you to step up and help us grow. We want to offer this fun, family safe, interactive server to more people…and you can make that happen.

When we did Minecon, our numbers shot up.  When our videos were posted on Mojang’s YouTube, our numbers soared yet again. Now, Mineorama is coming up– as is our 3rd anniversary. Big things can happen, if you believe. I know I do. I have seen all of you take my dream and make it real. Let’s all work to make that dream a reality for more people.

Hello everyone! Legobuilder0813 here! For those who don’t know, I’m a Technician over here at MCMagic. That means that I manage all the servers behind the scenes to keep them running smoothly. Anyway, I wrote this out to talk about a New Server coming to MCMagic! I won’t talk about what’s on the New Server here, (because that would ruin the surprise :P), however BroghanTaylor and myself will be talking about it on a LiveStream. Welcome everyone to this wonderful summer time with me, Virus, here to bring you our summer updates! We have some big things to announce and some changes to the server features and even the staff.

-Mine-O-Rama!

That’s right! We’re going to be presenting at Mine-O-Rama on both days: July 12 and 13. A big group of the staff will be meeting up there, ready to talk and showcase the server. CMs attending include therealduckie, GrailMore, mixmasterjacob, darthcorey, WildPoppys, legobuilder0813 and more! We have plenty in store for those who pays a visit to us as we will be giving out gifts as a token of our gratitude to our fans who are and have supported us.

-New Mini-Games Server!

Thanks to our excellent technician legobuilder0813 for working on this project for the past seven months along with Apollo1421, mixmasterjacob, Dem190, Helopoh, ZACx209, BroghanTaylor, skipper165, Owils, GrailMore, rilbud, NSNICK, FilmDrummer and Flakenstine with these marvelous maps. At this  time we’re only opening the mini-games for beta testing to DVC’s (Donors), Staff, and Special Guests. These games are different than those you may find on other gaming servers; our have a “mcmagical” touch, combined with our family-friendly theme. Right now we have two games that are nearly ready for everyone: “Imagination Games” and “Seven Dwarfs Mining Challenge”.

The Imagination Games: 

When you finally fall asleep and escape to your dreams you find that other people have invaded your dreams and are trying to wake you up. Endure to the end and get a few last moments of peace before the sun rises!

Seven Dwarfs Mining Challenge:

Quick! The dwarfs need your help! Race against the time and try your best to collect as much gems than the others that have followed you into the Mines!

-Show Your Summer Side:

For the month of July and August, we’ll be rocking out our summer side with a few events that will be hosted on the server. #McMagicSummerSide

In July, we’re going to begin the month with some specialized firework shows of Wishes and Illuminations for Independence Day which you can read more information below this topic. Following through the month will our Mine-O-Rama meet and greet as mentioned prior to this. Then, ending the month, let’s just say we’re going to have a “Swinter” on the server.

In August, we may be planning some events that Disney is doing in real life such as Frozen Summer Fun which is a dedicated event to a Frozen in Summer and Villains Nights where we celebrate the enemy of our heroes in the beloved Disney movies. Be on the lookout for our server anniversary too! More information will be announced when time approaches.

-Independence Day Event:

Celebrate America will be shown on July 3 through July 18 with times at 4:00 and 9:00 PM EST at /warp castle

This full-length show provides 14 minutes of patriotic music and 1500 fireworks! 

Heartbeat of Freedom will be shown on July 3 through July 18 at 4:45 and 9:45 PM EST at /warp iroe

This is an additional 5-minute segment added onto the end of an updated Illuminations. Includes a finale that launches up to 100 fireworks per second!

When I started MCMagic 3 years ago, I had no way of knowing how immensely it would not only affect my life, but the lives of so many of our CMs, Managers, and Guests. I knew what I was creating was unique. I also knew Disney could convey a myriad of emotions– I just never imagined how much of a true family we would become.  What started with a dream on a laptop in my bedroom has blossomed into one of the world’s most beloved Minecraft servers.  We have truly had a positive impact on so many lives.

As part of our celebration of 3 years, many of our Cast Members, Managers, Special Guests, Interns, Guests, and DVC members were all able to meet at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida from August 5th through August 7th.  We were gathered from all over the world for this once in a lifetime opportunity. Of the many moments we shared,  the ones that stand out for me were the deep and fulfilling friendships I watched grow even more. Online friendships came to fruition in real life. I watched as everyone (usually hindered by the limitations of a text or voice chat) were able to goof off together and laugh, in real life. That initial awkwardness soon making way for more personal and personable moments. From silly shoulder punches, to Pillsbury-style belly poking, to laughter, to hugs…this was our moment. It was simply beautiful.

What struck me the most, though, were the moments when we met our Guests.

One young man was so overwhelmed, he was rendered speechless upon meeting our Cast. He heard we were in the parks and ran from one side of the park (Space Mountain) to the other (Main Street USA) to find us. Breathless and wide-eyed, he could barely speak. You could see and feel it hit him –  the people he had only previously met as avatars in a game were sitting before him, interacting with him, and just hanging out. For him, it was a dream come true. A moment in his life that will be forever etched amongst his favorite memories. His father, equally affected, shared stories with us about how important this was to his son and how much it has helped him. In fact, he said it helped them both! A unifying bond created in a world we created. Truly, a Magical Moment.

Another Guest fought her way through the crowded park, receiving vague texts about our location as we kept darting across the park from location to location.  Finally, as we were all sitting down to our meals and playing silly games, she came bolting in, announced who she was and just stood there. It was obvious she had a plan walking in, but the sheer amazement on her face when she realized how many of us were there, and how much all of us meant to her in so many different ways…just took over. We happily gave her our autographs, and she was soon on her way back to the parks with a little bit of a skip in her step. She had her Magical Moment.

When I got home, I genuinely cried. I was overcome by the love, compassion, honesty, brevity, and souls of everyone I had come across those few days. Tears of joy and a smile. My Magical Moment.

Those are the reasons we do this. Those moments are what this is all about. Creating magic in everyday life, in the game, on the servers, and anywhere we can to make the lives of so many people across the globe happy, joyful, and complete. We make fantasy a tenable and rational reality for so many people. We keep that magic spark alive through our actions, our servers, our rides, and so much more.

MCMagic has been around for 3 years, now. We hope to be around for many more. Even if we’re not, though, the paths of so many lives were changed in a positive way by their interactions on our Family of Servers…and that is something NO ONE else can claim or take away. Ever.

We hope you will continue to join us in the upcoming years, grow with us, & find new ways to enjoy the parks and our amazing Guests.

You are the reason we have lasted. You are the reason we’re the best. You will always be our focus, too.

Welcome everyone, VirusElite524 here for your August newsletter! We have numerous things to announce here, mainly about Main Map updates, our Creative server with some rule changes, and our newly announced Arcade Server. We also had our largest promotion and extension to our staff in quite a while!

A recent survey showed us that most of our new guests found us through Youtube videos. The video that attracted many of them regarded our large presence at YouCube, where we volunteered and assisted the last-minute but hugely successful event. Our owner, most of our administrators, and some of our Cast Members traveled to New York City where we seamlessly transitioned from our original MineORama meet-and-greet plans to the same professional support that we provide our server users. Even acting as real-life ‘CMs’, we had a great time, and are delighted that our involvement at YouCube has earned your interest and support!

As for building news, we are putting the finishing touches on Typhoon Lagoon. Much of the water park is built and functioning, and we expect to complete our first water park soon!

Here’s a list with some other small park updates in these locations:

• Coral Reef Restaurant has been refurbished.
• New DVC Lounge at /warp dvc
• Castle stage with minor additions.
• Yankee Trader store refurbishment
• Detailing throughout Liberty Square
• Start of work on Downtown Disney
• Various redstone tweaks to improve TPS and ride flow.

Utilidors are temporarily closed while we use them to test a new cross-server technique. Hopefully, this will help us resolve ride sluggishness in the future!

Speaking of Downtown Disney, if you had the chance to experience Disney Quest and its indoor interactive environment full of games then be on a lookout as we connect this and our newly created,

Arcade Server.

The Arcade Server is currently in beta test mode, and if you have seen videos of it’s gameplay, then you’ll know what game types to look forward to. Keep on a lookout for future updates from our technician, Legobuilder0813, who has been doing much of the backend coding for new server. Also, if you have an idea for a game map to be considered for the arcade, then submit your map here. Just follow the rules on that page and your map could be a playable land for all to enjoy. If anything,Feel free to gather some friends and build it on your plot on Creative!

As for creative, we have three things:

First is a rule change for inactivity and wasted plots: If you rarely go to Creative but have a plot with nothing on it, we will be removing your ownership of that plot to make room for someone else. The time limit is 45 days. After that 45th day we will clear the plot.

Second is a rule change for Roleplays: Due to a recent selection of family-inapprorpiate roleplays, we are temporarily disallowing roleplays on our servers. If you are caught with any roleplaying, you will be temp-banned or permanently banned, depending on content and repeated offenses. CMs may set up a guided roleplay, but these will have a labeled Cast Member present to keep the order. Depending on guest behavior, we may lift this rule in the future.

Third, is the  Hollywood Studios on Creative! With Hollywood Studios being rebuilt, we want to get our guests involved in construction of Hollywood Boulevard. Guests will be permitted to view an outline the buildings on Creative, where you will be able to choose an area to build. If you build it and it looks correct with measurements, detailing, spacing, and color, then your build may be chosen to use on the main map! This is a great way to be noticed for an Imagineer position, so put care into your build if you decide to try! More details will be announced later on my Twitter, @VirusElite524.

For staff applications, due to increased user volume, the applications will only open for the first five days of the month. When filling out the form, please read all the directions; most apps are rejected because a direction wasn’t followed!

The resource pack that will be updated will have new music, new bow, new arrow, new wooden hoe, new GUI items, and even a secret particle effect.

Lastly, we have a bunch of fun events planned for this month:

First, we are excited to announce the rollout of TASTE OF FANTASMIC. Taste of Fantasmic will become a regular show alongside Wishes and Illuminations (IROE), and will play during weekends. This will allow us to give you a Taste of Fantasmic, even when cast members aren’t available to run full Fantasmic.

Second, we are equally excited to announce Villains Nights at Hollywood Studios, starting August 23rd. This will include a few activities happening in parallel at the real HWS, and an early showing of the firework show HalloWishes at the castle!

Third, and most importantly, we are estatic to announce MCMAGIC.US’s 3RD ANNIVERSARY. In addition to Wishes, IROE, and Taste of Fantasmic, look out for TWO NEW, FULL LENGTH, CUSTOM-MADE SHOWS: “Just Like We Dreamed It” at the Main Street train station, and “Relive the Magic” at the castle! Both shows offer hundreds of additional fireworks, unique soundtracks, and effects that push the art of minecraft firework shows to their limits!

This wraps up this month’s update. The cast of MCMagic would like to thank you for three magical years of building, performing, and fun! Your support has been instrumental in getting us to where we are today, and we can’t wait to bring you even more fun in the next year!

Last time I spoke about the emotions of our 3rd anniversary and meeting, in real life, with Cast Members, Managers, DVC members, Guests, and more from MCMagic.  Now, I want to take the time to focus on the real reason we’re here.

From the beginning, I had a mission to provide a safe, free, and fun place for kids of all ages to play, explore, and meet with other Disney fans. It’s been a long road with many bumps, turns and loops (like our rides!), but nothing has stopped our number 1 reason for being here. The reason we have kept this going: YOU!

You, the person reading this, are why we’ve remained the number 1 Disney server in Minecraft. You are the reason we’ve lasted 3 years. You are the reason friendships have blossomed. You are the reason people now have real life jobs resulting from their work here at MCMagic. You are the reason we were invited to Minecon 2013. You are the reason our Cast was selected to attend and help out at YouCube. You are the reason we’re hosted on the number one Minecraft servers, MCProhosting. You are the reason top YouTubers have flocked to MCMagic. You are the reason real life Disney Legends know about us and have featured us on their sites.

It’s all because of YOU.

We could not possibly have kept it running without your support, encouragement, faith, dedication, love, respect, and more.  Without our Guests, we’d simply not exist. You keep us engaged, excited, and creative. Your direct input has helped improve rides, Guest experiences, and shows. Your engagement has kept us motivated, striving to better every aspect of the parks. You make every day fresh and new.

So, this year’s anniversary is dedicated to our Guests. The most wonderful, incredible, and MAGICAL Guests in all of Minecraft!

So here’s the news on the newest Minecraft version 1.8. At the moment, we’re working our hardest to update our servers so 1.8 players can connect to them. There are a few disadvantages, however. One being the Dragon Bar at the top of the Screen doesn’t work at the moment. We can live with that. However there are a few larger disadvantages. Click Here to see how our “Barrier Blocks” (not the 1.8 barrier blocks, what we used to block guests) are visible now. That’s something we will have to find a temporary fix for before we can use Barrier Blocks. One advantage, however is that we can use the newest Minecraft blocks that appear in the Creative Inventory Menu (Variations of Stone, Wet Sponge, etc.) with our WorldEdit plugin. If you’re in the Minecraft 1.8 Client, you will see these blocks as they’re supposed to look. If you’re still on 1.7, you will just see the original block instead (Stone instead of Granite, Sponge instead of Wet Sponge, etc.). At the moment, we’re not sure which of our servers will be updated and which will not. We most likely will not update the Parks until a later date. Pictured in this post is the very first screenshot I officially took in Minecraft. That is a photo of the first house I ever built on Reddit’s servers in 2010. Inspired by Japanese architecture, it was MY creation. The first of many to come.  It was a glorious time.

Why am I sharing this, now?  Because the proverbial poop has hit the fan and everyone is freaking out…forgetting why they started playing this game. Microsoft now owns Mojang. Yes. That happened. Let’s talk about that and MCMagic’s future.

I admit – early on I was reactionary, assumptive, and a little scared. (Granted, I am still worried, but let’s TRY to keep this positive.) I posted, to my personal Twitter, about all the possible failed scenarios and personal frustrations I had with this decision.

Then, I took a deep breathe and remembered the joy of my first builds, the camaraderie with other players, and the absolutely incredible creativity of everyone I’ve met in Minecraft. To this day that has not changed. We still gather and accomplish feats of extraordinary construction and engineering/imagineering. By combining our skills, artistry, and friendship – we have made monumental rides, rich landscapes, and MAGICAL realms.

You have to realize, when I began playing Minecraft it was a simplistic browser-based demo. (also, sadly, no screenshot ability) You had the blocks in your action bar and that was it. No mobs, a limited world, and stark colors. Still, even in its infancy, it was … Let’s just say I was hooked. I still am. I never lost that wonder and the pure enjoyment of creation. That’s what has driven me to keep this server running, paying the bills out of pocket most of the time, so it is STILL free and accessible to kids of all ages. I made promises and I intend to keep my word.

So what does all this have to do with MCMagic?

I want MCMagic to live on. We plan to continue building, and creating, and expanding this universe we’re all a part of.  I want our community to remain one of the biggest, happiest, most family friendly ones ever. I want us to keep growing and developing our parks and servers.

MCMagic should position itself as a light at the end of the tunnel. A place where the dream and MAGIC haven’t died. Where anyone can come on and see the best that Minecraft, Disney, and our talented team of Cast Members & Guests have to offer. I want our community to continue building life-long friendships. I want more letters from moms and dads thanking us for everything we do. I want to gather 100s of us at Minecon 2015 in London and have a blast. I want to go to the next YouCube and give the fans a day of incredible opportunities and the time of their lives. I want partnerships to keep growing. I want our Twitch to be more active and our YouTube to have new content.

I want Walt to look down and say “That’s the spirit!”

Let us not travel down a dark path during this transition. Life, itself, is all about change. Some of it is scary. Some of it is confusing. Heck, sometimes it can be downright maddening but, like learning to ride a bike – We will all fall. It’s the stronger person that gets right back up again, brushes off the dirt, and keeps moving forward.

That’s our current outlook at MCMagic. Keep moving forward.

MCMagic would like to take this opportunity to thank Notch for all he has done and all he created. Tapping in to something so basic, using tools and blocks that are equally basic, he created an entire community, economy, and entertainment empire.  We are so very thankful for everything he has given us. MC Magic October Newsletter

Happy Halloween and Happy Autumn! This month hasn’t been very busy, but we have a few new things coming to the Main parks, changes to some creative rules, brand new Guide maps and new staff!

Main Parks

Ever since we split up the parks into different servers the lag issues have been very minimal but leaves many guests wondering a similar issue, what happened with all the resorts like the Contemporary? Answer is we are working on placing all the resorts into one server but we are also waiting for a working Hotel Plugin. Just keep an eye out for announcements to beta test the plugin!

Animal Kingdom

Is near completion! We have put the final touches to the last area, Rafiki’s Planet Watch and is now open and accessible on the AK server by going to /warp rpw. This leaves us with small projects for the park such as the expansion for Africa and it’s shows. Our next big project: EPCOT

DVC

• New Mini Game: Morty the Monster Skee Ball!

 This will be the last mini game for awhile.

• Characters will start appearing at DVC meet and greets more often.

Arcade

• Opened Imagination Games.
• DVC Member will be getting their Credits soon! Please don’t bug us about it!

Creative

Starting with spawn, this gateway has received a refurbishment along with a few more updates in the coming weeks.

Changes to the rules for creative:

Policing of the server by guests is strongly discouraged. For guests on the server to form groups to guard others plots from things like grief is very disruptive and causes more problems than helps. Grief is a serious issue and is not tolerated on the server.

• Grief of any kind is an immediate removal from the server. There is never a good reason to destroy the work of other guests.
• Beacons have been removed as a placable item in prior to 1.8 as they will not be allowed to be lit then either. Splash Potions, Snowballs, Ender Pearls, Portals, and Enchanting Potions has also been removed from use for guests.
• World Edit is only used for extreme cases of moving builds as needed. CM’s are not allowed to build for the guests or use worldedit in those builds. There are some exceptions but not many.
• If you are building with redstone and don’t know what a clock is or lag machine please see CM/Intern before you continue.
• Role-play has once again become an issue as far as it not being appropriate of following the rules that we have set in place.  From this point forward any roleplay that is clearly inappropriate will have you escorted from the server. We have rules in place and expect that you have read them prior to entering the Creative server.
• Infinity blocks of any kind are considered a hacked client or block and are not allowed to be created or brought to the server.
• The test at spawn is used to make sure that you understand the rules as they are in place for the safety of you and our other guests.  Please don’t give the answers to those taking the test.
• When building you are allowed the use of water but we ask that you don’t cover entire builds in water or use it to grief.
• Reboots are going to be more common on a daily schedule. This is to allow the server to cool down and decrease the amount of crashes. We ask that you don’t panic or worry, these reboots only take a few minutes and it will help everyone. If we kept it to crash, there can be possibilities that recent progress may not have been saved. Think of it as a break time from playing, it will auto save and easily return when it is ready.
• Interns can now place fire for guests but must be allowed to build on the plot first.

Here’s a quick reminder about advertising on the server and outside drama.

Advertising:

We ask that you don’t talk about or advertise other servers, websites, Youtube videos or any other resource outside of MCMagic itself.  Even if these Youtube videos or places are MCMagic related. If we here at MCMagic feel you should see anything relating to us we will post it ourselves for you and most likely you will find it on the webpage.

Outside Drama:

Bringing drama from other servers to this server is not tolerated at all. It does nothing more than cause stress between  guests and other guests who have no idea what is going on. Please keep it off our servers.

The MCMagic website has a new feature, Guide Maps! You can now view the actual park maps along with the corresponding warp on the server. They are accessible under the Servers tab and currently have Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom Guidemap. We will be adding the Epcot and Hollywood Studios guidemaps later as they are in development of rebuilding. A temporary guidemap for them will be created in the next few weeks.

Orlando, FL – Nov, 11, 2014 – MCMagic, the leader in Minecraft Disney servers, announces its worldwide partnership with all the major and most popular Disney-related servers in Minecraft. Starting today, every server listed below is now an Official MCMagic Partner. This agreement marks the first time any group of Minecraft Servers, dedicated to Disney Parks, has come together. They join each other, in a shared focus, to improve, grow and expand their properties.

In over 3 years of dedication to our Guests, we have started many social media (and other accounts) to spread our message to the world. However, as of today – all MCMagic properties will now be unified under the same exact name on every platform. Our new official naming scheme denotes more than MCMagic as a server, but also as a Family. Our new Official partners can share in that name, too, as it is more inclusive.

Although the name MCMagic will still be used, the MCMagic Parks (Also to be used and seen as MCMagicParks) name will be the official name. This unified name means it will be easier for our Guests to find us on any site. It also means less confusion about musicians, trolls using our name for benefit, and whether or not a page is official.

Happy Holidays everyone! It’s that time of year where it’s getting a bit colder, school is almost over for the winter break, and the end of a wonderful year. We’ll be presenting you with updates for our Seasonal server, Main, Arcade, and an important announcement for Creative. Also introduce our wonderful new staff members.

Seasonal Server:

What is it?

It’s our customized world made by every Cast Member where we celebrate this glorious time of year and we are sharing it with you! Come join us where you are free to roam and venture into our neighborhood with all of our houses.

-You can even send a letter to Santa from our Post Office.

-If you celebrate Hanukkah, Mixmasterjacob has Menorah lighting ceremony at 6 PM EST from the 16th to the 24th.

-Don’t forget to hang out with Disney Characters as they will join you for the 4 PM show following a chance to meet them on Seasonal up until the 24th.

This won’t be the only time to visit this Seasonal server as it will return for future holidays, parties, and special events.

Arcade and Main:

-Loved the parkours on our Arcade? Well they have been moved to their own servers! It’s easily accessible by doing the command “/hub Parkour” in the Arcade server.

-The server currency was recently removed to adjust the value of offers we promote. Soon, we will have a brand new system with plenty of room for opportunities. We will be rolling out the new currency which will now be referred to as “Coins”. This means any diamonds and emeralds are now nothing for any specific use. Along with this new currency, the scoreboard that appears on the right side in the Arcade server will now be shown in every MCMagic server you are in.

-ThingAMaBobs are now available to be purchased! Along with this new feature, if you want more credits to purchase more you now have the opportunity to trade real money for credits at http://store.mcmagic.us.

-Our new Partners will be receiving a brand new tag in chat corresponding to their server such as [MineDisney] and [MagicalDreams].

-Osborne Spectacle of Dancing Lights! Shows are currently in progress and we hope to have it out in the following weeks (hopefully before Christmas).

Creative:

Creative will be going through a major cleaning phase as the entire map will be wiped clean. This means all plots will be cleared and the entire server will be receiving some changes. From now until December 13th, we have a form available “here” that you can fill out and obtain a copy of a schematic of your plot.

The schematics will be uploaded for you to be able to download on a public Dropbox folder. Guests can get a download of one plot and DVC’s can get two plots. The only person allowed to request the copy of the plot is the plot owner.

Resetting Creative has happened in the past and it is a necessity. With the thousands of guests we encounter each week it expands the world that may cause issues such as lag and crashes. This task will help you and even us as you are provided a copy of your work upon request and we provide a better environment for you to enjoy.

Please make sure all information is filled out properly on the form as we cannot search the many forms we will be receiving. All information you are reading here will also be available on the “Creative Corner”.

If you have any questions after the meeting we will be able to sit in the meeting room on mumble and answer a few for you.

MCMagic Cast Members and Interns:

The staff you see on here are all volunteers, willing to take their free time to provide the best experience that we can make. Our general responsibility is to maintain the server by keeping attractions available, servicing your questions and requests, and making sure everyone is enjoying. Now it is no easy task to do this with only 77 volunteers moderating hundreds each day. But we try our best. As an example, chat is one of our main priorities when it comes to moderation as anything can happen. The challenge we face is not only seeing the chat a normal guest watches but we have two others. We have the ability to see private chat and our own staff chat. So if you happen to ask a question and no one is answer, it means we are helping someone else or no one is available to assist you at that time. But that doesn’t mean we are ignoring you. You can also submit a book to City Hall in Magic Kingdom and receive a response once it has been read. We hope you understand and look forward to your cooperation.

As we wrap up another incredible year, we here at MCMagic would like to thank you for your appreciation and support that has led us this far. Our focus this year has been to reach you, our guests. Through conventions, more effective social media and our staffs willingness to interact with our guests, we have become a better community. Our staff has been the most amazing staff this year, even through ups and downs, we have stayed true to the Disney spirit. We are so very proud of what our staff and our communnity has accomplished, and very grateful for our guests who have helped keep the magic alive. We hope to keep the magic going strong through the new year, and will have many new things to keep the magic alive.

“IF YOU CAN DREAM IT, YOU CAN DO IT!”  -Walt

When MCMagic started, almost 4 years ago, we were the only server in the Minecraft community dedicated solely to theme parks and Disney. We wanted to create a one-of-a-kind experience within the diverse Minecraft universe. Our mission was simple: Build the world’s biggest, best & most complete theme park experience for our Guests & keep it safe, secure and free for all ages. We succeeded, building all the parks in the Walt Disney World resort with working rides and shows.

Although we opened in 2011, we started counting the turnstiles in 2012. Since then, around 300,000 Guests, 500 Cast Members, 25 Managers and numerous technicians have joined us.  To give you a little perspective– when we started, there were only 5 videos on YouTube related to “Disney Minecraft”. On Google, there were barely 1,000 results. Now, there are over 1.5 MILLION videos and 24 MILLION results on Google. Those numbers are incredible!

Our popularity has meant a welcome flood of followers & fans. We helped inspire others to create their own theme parks. Our progress led others to believe that their creation, no matter how obscure or difficult, could succeed. From Universal Studios, to Sea World, to Six Flags – a multitude of unique servers have been created. Since we opened, we have witnessed the birth of no less than 50 servers dedicated to theme parks. In all of this, there was 1 common thread: They were usually created by former MCMagic Cast Members. Using the inside experience they gained while volunteering for us, they truly believed in their hearts that they could “do it better”. We applauded many of these efforts. It is exciting, to us, to watch the game improve, develop and exceed its boundaries. There have even been a few times when we were inspired by their efforts.

“IT’S KIND OF FUN TO DO THE IMPOSSIBLE” -Walt

That said, MCMagic has never been in competition with anyone. That’s not why we do this. We have never sought out to challenge any other server in our almost 4 year history. As stated above, we welcomed many of them. Our current Cast Members never go to other servers to troll, harass, intimidate, spam, advertise or mock others. There is no documented case of this happening. That is because we foster a level of respect in our Staff. You will not find negative threads on Twitter or Facebook involving our official accounts or Cast Members. To be honest, we are too busy volunteering our time to our Guests. From shows, to fireworks, to rides, to character greetings, to autograph sessions, to games, to new builds, to updates, to additions to the game – our dedication to our Guests (our most important asset) is paramount. We simply can not spare a single minute elsewhere.

We would also like to point out that our Cast Members, Managers and Technicians have ranged in age from 8 to 65. We have never engaged in ageism or insinuated that anyone working for us is required to be a certain age. Minecraft is not just for kids, no matter what some may say. It’s wide-ranging software that inspires everyone. Why else has it sold more copies than any other game in history?  Let’s be clear: Walt, himself, was in his 60s when he dreamed up Walt Disney World. His focus (as is ours) is on Family & Friends as a whole. His parks were for everyone to enjoy together. So is ours. Disney hires Cast Members of all ages and so do we. We don’t judge a person based on age, sex, orientation, race or social standing. All are equal, here.

MCMagic also strongly believes in the avoidance and removal of trolling, stalking, personal information sharing, swearing and bullying. We have worked harder on Guest safety than any other aspect of our Parks. Rides were important, sure, but if someone can not be on MCMagic without a troll bothering them or swear words filling the chat, we would have closed our doors years ago. We’re proud of those efforts. Kids and their families can join MCMagic and not worry about the rest of the internet ruining their time.

As part of our mission to keep it free, we do not charge our Guests to visit. We also do not force them to pay monthly fees. Since the beginning, MCMagic has been in full compliance with Mojang’s EULA. Although we do have the DVC role, every Guest can still experience the parks exactly the same way!

“AROUND HERE, WE DON’T LOOK BACKWARDS” -Walt

Using the technology built into Minecraft, we offer our Guests a more immersive experience by using what Mojang gave us. We offer a full resourcepack and audio experience. You can still enjoy MCMagic without a resource pack, but Mojang did not include the ability for no reason – therefore we utilize this feature as it is a part of the game. We proudly take advantage of it.

Last year, we invited 6 servers to join our Family to show our respect for those we believe hold our same values. We have been so honored to have them along for the ride. Their willingness to work together, their dedication to the principle that the Guest comes 1st (ALWAYS), and their incredible & unique builds were a perfect fit. It also meant that, under one roof, we had the entirety of the real Disney Parks family. It has been a blessing having them join us on this adventure.

Accountability is important to us and our Partners. That is why we do not allow advertising of other servers, even those run by former Cast Members. We are also unable to authorize the addition of servers to our Family with either no history, or a history of faults and issues. We simply must uphold the best of standards. When in doubt, we follow Disney’s 4 keys.

So, to sum up:

Starting in 1955, Disney Parks were the first of their kind. It took them decades to perfect the image, procedures & MAGIC we know today. We’ve only been around for about 4 years, so we’re still learning and growing. As we do, we’re so glad you have chosen to join us. It’s been a wild ride.

MCMagic Cast Members and Special Guests become regular Guests for the day!

Last year, a record 25 Guests, Cast Members, Managers, Special Guests and our Owner all went to Walt Disney World on the same day. From across the world, they gathered together to celebrate. It was an incredible day of laughter, sharing and fun.  It is a testament to everyone’s hard work, dedication and love of Disney that made it happen– and it wasn’t the first time!  Our Staff has gathered at Walt Disney World no less than 5 times and met up at numerous Minecraft-related events around the world. We truly live & feel the magic. On that note, I want to leave you all with an inspirational story from a current Cast Member.  It summarizes that magical feeling, so well –

“Hey Duckie, my minecraft name is UrbanAthena and I am one of your cast members on MCMagic. I was just messaging you to tell you how grateful I am for the server you created. If it wasn’t for this server I would not have made some of my best friends now, I would not have gotten a summer job at a camp (with DarthCorey, and WildPoppys) and I would not have met (Virus) who gave me and two friends a free trip to Disney World and who talked me into applying for the Disney college program that I got accepted to along with StitchPenguin. So starting in August I will be living the dream of working in Disney World.

None of this would have been possible without your server. So thank you”

 

That is why we do this. For moments like that. It’s why we pledge to keep going and never falter from our mission. All of you are our inspiration and motivation. We would not be here without you. We are humbled by you, our benefactors and the community as a whole.

“Fantasy and reality often overlap.” —Walt Disney

After my RECENT POST, explaining our position in the greater Minecraft and Theme Park community, I missed an important focus item: “Competition”.

Our loyal Guests know that they are our 1st & main focus. Their safety, fun and enjoyment are, as stated before, paramount to our long-running (and future) success. This emphasis has helped propel us from a small 20 person server to the almost 300,000 Guest server we are today. We give our valued Guests, and the importance of Disney’s Four Keys, much forethought. Our actions, words and position are constantly reviewed by Management, outside focus groups and other Minecraft servers. If we were to ever slip up & ignore our goals, including our unending dedication to Walt’s Vision, someone would take notice. Our diligence has paid off and we feel we have one of the happiest servers in Minecraft with the most content and joyous Guests!

As a rule, from the day we started, we have been clear that there is not, and never will be, a competition between us and any other similar server. Never, in our years on social media, have our accounts attacked, maligned, compared, trolled, bothered, stalked or spoken ill of any other server. There is not 1 documented incident. Furthermore, our current Cast Members are held to an extraordinarily high standard on their own, personal, social media accounts. They know that their actions can have a direct impact on MCMagic. Anything they say, as a representative of MCMagic can be construed as coming from us directly. Again, because of the level of respect, loyalty & training our Cast Members have, you will not find any swearing, posting derogatory comments or unsafe materials on their accounts.

For a good example of this, look to Disney Parks– They don’t have a habit, on social media or the news, of stating that they are in direct competition with Universal. They do not have a habit of posting comparison images, gossip or rumors about any park. That’s because Disney is smart enough to know there is no competition and that it makes no rational sense. It’s bad business!  Besides, Universal doesn’t offer the same experience. Disney has better things to focus their energy on…and so do we. Universal, on the other hand, has their CEO publicly saying saying silly things like “Universal will compete aggressively with Disney”. You can be assured, MCMagic will never fall into that trap of negativity. Guests don’t want or need to see that sort of unhealthy rivalry. They’re not here for that. They are here for FUN and MAGIC!

We’re not here for that sort of behavior, either. We’re not a corporation. We’re just a bunch of volunteers who enjoy the game and Disney together…just like you!

 UPDATES

As Minecraft has grown, so have we. Some of our parks and rides become “dated” as Minecraft has improved and offered more options. When you have 4 parks, 5 resorts, 2 water parks, a games server, multiple projects, plugins and shows to do – this might mean a few things lag behind the times. We’re confident our Guests are smart enough, and patient enough, to realize this is the case.

Let’s take EPCOT as a perfect example…and give you a little “backstage access” to its current progress.

EPCOT, as it appears on MCMagic, was completed WAY way back in 2012. During that time, Minecraft was barely out of BETA. Many of the blocks and options we have today never existed. So, our current EPCOT became a bit “simple”. The real Walt Disney World Resort had this same issue. Much of EPCOT, just as Walt envisioned, had to update with the times. This is a common occurrence and not a valid concern. It’s just a fact. Progress happens and we, as well as Disney, are required to keep up, and so we do… IN A HUGE WAY.

Let’s start with the American Pavillion. This 1st image is how it looks now on current (old) EPCOT. It’s relatively plain, by today’s building standards, so…

We updated it, dramatically! Check out the imagery, the scenery, the buildings, the decor…everything is crisp and new and updated to today’s standards of excellence. Our Cast Members are doing an incredible job. And you think that looks good? Wait until you go inside to see the show!

Our builds don’t stop there, either. Here you see the JAPAN Pavillion as it exists on the current EPCOT server. Not horrible. You get the feeling you are there, butthe scale is a bit off, the American pavillion is too close, and the shoreline is too linear.

Here is the New JAPAN Pavillion! As you can see, we have much more detail, better angles, improved textures and the right colors for today. It’s a drastic and welcome improvement.

Probably the most talked-about recent image of our parks, and one used over and over (although it is a 3 year old image), is this one. This is the FRANCE Pavillion in old EPCOT. Sure, we can admit it is a bit bland and old, but 3 years ago, when Minecraft was still young, this was the best it could be.

And here, as the French would say, is the “Pièce de résistance” – This is the all-new FRANCE Pavillion. Angled correctly, offering better vantages, more to do, and a much richer feeling.

MCMagic is never averse to change. As anyone knows, Walt said many times:

We are honored so many have chosen to emulate what we started. From using the word MAGIC in their names & advertising, to using our website theme, to using our tweet formats and right down to using our skins for characters, we are aware that it is a gesture of love and respect. We accept that it will happen. In fact, we encourage it! It’s awesome to know we did something so well that so many others would want to echo that success.

We promise to continue to do everything in our power to ensure our Guests have the most MAGICAL time. We will always be updating, improving, changing, cleaning and expanding our Parks. It’s the same thing Walt Disney World does – we’re just following their lead! We will also continue to uphold our long-running high standards all of you have come to expect. We will never be a “Grumpy”.

MCMagic Easter Egg Hunt 

Rules: This contest is open to all Guests and DVCs that visit our servers. The contest runs all day April 5th 2015. You must find all the eggs and correctly list them in your book by name and number. The name and numbers will be located upon a diamond block near the egg. You must sign your book before you drop in off in the hopper to enter as we can not  establish the owner of a book without it being signed.

Prizes:  Two winners will be chosen randomly Monday April 6th.  Winners will get $5.00 toward a DVC membership. If you are already a DVC member you will receive 2700 credits.

• You will start the hunt by picking up a book at /warp Eggs
• You will have all day to find the 16 hidden eggs throughout the servers.
• Each egg will have a diamond block with a sign. On that sign you will find the number of the egg and the name of the egg.
• In your book write the name and number of the egg. (they don’t have to be in exact order.)
• Once you find all 16 of the eggs sign your book so we know who it belongs to.
• Go to /warp Drop to put your book in the hopper

• Hollywood Studios (/warp HWS)
• Epcot (/warp Epcot)
• Animal Kingdom (/warp AK)
• Typhoon Lagoon (/warp Typhoon)
